Nov ‘23 Update
Faith enjoyed most of the month resting and running at Trotter’s Run Farm. She also enjoyed being spoiled with carrots and other goodies throughout her time off. She enjoyed it so much that she has filled out and grown a little in her time off. This will help as she switches from a growth and protein feed mix to her normal training feed recipe. A change in feed is required to allow her to be eligible to race. Feeds with high proteins or specific antibiotics are prohibited during the racing season.
The week of Thanksgiving, Faith went back to the barn as the owners of Trotter’s Run Farm went on vacation. After returning to the barn, Tyler decided to go ahead and start a 6 week program in preparation of training.
Week 1: 2 miles a day
Week 2: 3 miles a day
Week 3: 3.5 miles a day
Week 4: 4 miles a day
Week 5: 4 miles a day
Week 6: 4 miles a day with 2 days of mile training
The week of Christmas, Faith will start training every four days. She will start with a 2 minute 50 second mile. Tyler will be pushing her to drop 5-10 seconds every training session with a goal of qualifying under 2 minutes the first full week of February. After qualifying, she will be eligible to race in some conditional races at Miami Valley to have a couple starts in her before we have to pay our staking fees to race in the Ohio Sires, Buckeye Stallion, or OCRA fair circuit.
