Dec ‘23 Wrap Up
As we come to the close of the year, there is a lot to be thankful for this year. All About Faith finished top 3rd of Ohio 2 year-old trotting fillies and never raced without receiving a check. Those achievements are exciting as we look ahead into her 3 year-old racing season. All About Faith has started to settle in to jogging every day and was very eager to continue the slow start Tyler has taken. Just as planned, she went through the training regimen to prepare for doing some timed miles. Faith’s first timed training mile for this upcoming season was 2:52. Although that may seem super slow from what we are used to seeing, the plan is to do a week or two at that time and then cut each week, taking incremental steps to avoid pulling muscles, getting sore, or hurting yourself. Just like a regular athlete, doing it this way is much healthier for the horse.
We had one little setback this month. Nearly every horse in the barn got sick for a few days, but Faith is on the mend and acting feisty. She was ready to trot when taken out on the track. Faith is already in race mode. While jogging today, she sped up to try and race the other horses. Its a great thing unless you are trying to have her take an easy! With consecutive cuts in timed miles, we should be on our way to compete in February of next year.
Miami Valley opens January 3rd, so from then until late April most of the racing will be happening here at home. As we get closer to race season, be on the lookout for staking information. We will plan a staking meeting day to discuss and make decisions on pay to play races in addition to the fairs and Sire Stakes circuits.
Everyone mark your calendars for January 13 as we plan to have a meet and greet at the Rack’s house in the evening. The plan will be for everyone to bring a side dish or dessert and Blaze Racing Co. will provide main course.
